2023 Annual Report

Cullman Electric Cooperative publishes its annual report for two reasons. First, it’s important for co-op members to have information and be aware of the critical issues and decisions the co-op is facing. Second, it provides accountability. Financial reporting and other key metrics show members that the co-op is well managed and the board of trustees and staff are being good stewards of the co-op’s resources.

2023 was a challenging year, but also very successful for Cullman Electric. The co-op now has more than 48,000 member accounts, and our Sprout Fiber Internet service has more than 9,000 subscribers, with plans to make the service available to an additional 7,000 homes and businesses this year. Major storm events last spring and summer led to above-average power outage totals for the year. However, system improvements, right-of-way management, and other technology upgrades resulted in fewer and shorter outages during six months compared to the previous year.

As a co-op, our mission is to enhance the quality of life in our community and look after its long-term interests. Cullman Electric Cooperative did that in 2023, and we are excited about doing even more in 2024. We love serving our members and our local community, and just like you, we want to see it continue to thrive.
