Cullman Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative serving residential, commercial, and industrial members in Cullman, Morgan, Lawrence, and Winston counties. Cullman EC was incorporated in 1936, serving 350 members with 30 miles of electrical line. Today, the co-op has more than 42,000 member accounts and maintains more than 3,300 miles of line.

Cullman Electric Cooperative is seeking highly qualified, talented, and motivated applicants for the position of Apprentice Lineman.

An employee in this position participates in the construction, maintenance and operation of distribution electrical facilities.  The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in the electric utility industry or an associated field is preferred but not required. 

 

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED INCLUDE: Possess and exhibit the ability and desire to provide prompt, courteous, and reliable services to the cooperative’s members/owners.  Possess the ability to communicate tactfully and effectively in dealing with members/owners, the general public, supervisors and co-workers.  A mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tools, equipment, and machinery. Ability to climb poles.  Must be able to work cooperatively and as a team member. Applicants should have working knowledge of database software and Windows based computer applications. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: Outside work in various weather conditions with some irregular hours and/or overtime required.  This position requires work call duty.  Frequent climbing, bending, and lifting of heavy objects weighing up to 100 lbs.  Some occasional overnight travel may be involved.  Must wear company provided uniforms and other required safety equipment. 

 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES REQUIRED:

 

Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama Driver’s License.  Must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License Class A Endorsement, a valid CPR and valid Multi Media First Aid Card within three (3) months of employment and maintain thereafter; must successfully complete a recognized Apprentice Lineman Training program within the time specified and according to the guidelines developed by the Cooperative’s Apprenticeship Committee and approved by Management.
