Cullman Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative serving residential, commercial, and industrial members in Cullman, Morgan, Lawrence, and Winston counties. Cullman EC was incorporated in 1936, serving 350 members with 30 miles of electrical line. Today, the co-op has more than 42,000 member accounts and maintains more than 3,300 miles of line.

Cullman Electric Cooperative is seeking highly qualified, talented and motivated applicants for the position of Accountant 1.

The individual in this position will be responsible for performing a variety of routine bookkeeping and accounting tasks which could include billing, reconciliations, accounts payable and cash receipts for both Cullman Electric Cooperative and Sprout Fiber Internet. 

The successful candidate should have an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis on Accounting or Business and/or a minimum of five (5) years’ bookkeeping or related office experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered to satisfy requirements.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, AND REQUIREMENTS

Competencies for this position include the ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, work ethically and with integrity, uphold organizational values, complete administrative tasks correctly and timely, and deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required include excellent computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, accounting software, database software and Windows based applications. Candidates must demonstrate excellent skills in communication and possess the ability to work as a team member.
