Cullman Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative serving residential, commercial and industrial members in Cullman, Morgan, Lawrence, and Winston counties. Cullman EC was incorporated in 1936, serving 350 members with 30 miles of electrical line. Today, the co-op has more than 42,000 member accounts and maintains more than 3,300 miles of line.
Cullman EC has approximately 100 full-time employees in positions that include linemen, staking technicians, engineering, equipment mechanics, purchasing and stores, accounting, finance, marketing, communications, information technology, metering and collections, theft prevention and investigation, cashiering, member service representatives, human resources, administrative and supervision/management positions. Qualifications, education, and experience necessary can vary depending on the specific job requirements.
Sprout Fiber Internet, powered by Cullman Electric Cooperative, is seeking highly qualified, talented, and motivated applicants for the position of Network Engineer.
The individual in this position will be responsible for developing the design, configuration, enhancement, and troubleshooting of Sprout’s data network and equipment. This position will integral in leading teams that develop and test new products, troubleshoot complex network issues, maintain the health and security of Sprout’s fiber network and associated systems, and resolving highly complex issues escalated from the Networks Operations teams.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university. A minimum of three (3) years’ related experience in the field of network management is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Relevant Industry certifications such as CCNA and Net+ are preferred.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: The key job requirements include skills in communications (oral and written), time management, team work and a strong emphasis on accuracy and thoroughness and detailed oriented skills used to manage complex systems. Applicants should have a working knowledge of Windows based software and computer applications in addition to working knowledge of network protocols: BGP, MPLS, VRF, VLAN, 802.1x, DNS and DHCP.
