Local Schools Awarded TVA STEM Grants
Fairview High School, West Point Elementary School, and Vinemont Middle School are among the recipients of the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) competitive STEM classroom grant program. In partnership with Bicentennial Volunteers Inc. (BVI), a TVA retiree organization, TVA is awarding a record-tying $1.5 million in grants to educators to support science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education projects across the Tennessee Valley region.
Fairview High School, West Point Elementary School, and Vinemont Middle School will use the grant funds to enhance STEM learning opportunities, including hands-on technical experiences, coding projects, and interactive experiments.
Each grant, up to $5,000, was awarded through a competitive selection process, with preference given to projects aligning with TVA’s core areas of focus: environment, energy, economic development, and community problem-solving. Schools served by local power companies that receive electricity from TVA were eligible to apply.
The grant program, operated in partnership with the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network and managed by the Battelle organization, received 647 applications this year, with 342 selected for funding. Since 2018, TVA and BVI have provided nearly $8 million in STEM grants, benefiting over 730,000 students.
Cullman Electric Cooperative is proud to support local educators in their efforts to advance STEM education and prepare students for future careers in science and technology.
