Cullman Electric Cooperative Announces New Outage Text Notification Number

Cullman Electric Cooperative is pleased to announce a new phone number for members to report power outages via text message. Effective immediately, members should text outagesto 256-737-3200.

This change comes in response to updated industry regulations that are phasing out the use of 5-digit short codes for text messaging. As a result, Cullman Electric has transitioned to using the co-op’s primary 10-digit phone number to continue providing convenient, reliable communication for its members.

“We know how important it is for our members to quickly and easily report power outages,” said Brian Lacy, Vice President of Communications & Member Engagement at Cullman Electric Cooperative. “Using our primary phone number to send and receive text messages with our members allows us to stay compliant with federal messaging regulations while maintaining a fast, efficient way for members to alert us when their power is out.”

To use the service, members must have a mobile phone number associated with their Cullman Electric account. If you are unsure whether your number is registered or need assistance updating your contact information, please log in to your account through the Cullman Electric App or Online Portal or call our member services team at 256-737-3200.

Currently, Cullman Electric members must opt-in to the text messaging system to report an outage. Learn more about this system by visiting CullmanEC.com/report-outages. Cullman Electric encourages all members who have already opted-in to save 256-737-3200 in their contacts as "Cullman Electric Cooperative" to ensure they can easily access the service when needed.
