CULLMAN — Cullman Electric Cooperative and the Tennessee Valley Authority have scheduled a planned power outage that will impact a large portion of the co-op’s service area in Winston County and parts of western Cullman County on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020.
The outage is scheduled to begin Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, at 6 a.m., and could last for up to eight hours. All Cullman EC members served by the Addison and Helicon substations will be without power during this time. Some of the communities and areas included in this outage are Addison, Arley, Helicon, Sardis, Nesmith, Duncan Bridge, Houston, Piney Grove, Corinth, Moreland, and a small section of Crane Hill including Sulpher Springs.
Members who will be affected by this planned power outage and have a current telephone number listed on their Cullman EC account will receive a courtesy call this week, and an additional reminder phone call prior to the event.
The outage is necessary for TVA to perform maintenance on its main transmission line that delivers electricity to the Addison and Helicon substations. Cullman EC will use this opportunity to perform maintenance inside the Addison substation as well.
Co-op staff has spent the past several weeks contacting local business and industrial members that will be affected. Cullman EC apologizes for any inconvenience this outage may cause.
Cullman Electric Cooperative is a member-owned cooperative serving more than 44,000 member accounts in Cullman, Morgan, Lawrence and Winston counties.
